SFX purchases German promoter i-Motion for $21 million

SFX

North American events company SFX Entertainment has continued its recent spending with the purchase of German promoter i-Motion.

According to Billboard, Robert Sillerman's SFX paid for i-Motion, a dance event company founded in 1994, with $16 million in cash and $5 million in stock.

The acquisition will see SFX take charge of eight festivals in Germany, Poland and Belarus, including Nature One in Frankfurt which attracted the likes of Felix Da Housecat, Sven Väth and Zedd this summer. Another one is the semi-historic Mayday festival, one of the oldest dance music festivals in Germany and which draws around 25,000 to the city of Dortmund. i-Motion's Ruhr-In-Love event draws about 45,000 to Olga Park in Oberhausen.

i-Motion lists 20 media partners, including MTV and Radio1LIVE, and 23 brand sponsors, including Coca-Cola and Philip Morris.

SFX purchased Beatport in February, raised $260 million in its first initial public offering (Afrojack helped ring in opening day at NASDAQ with the rest of the SFX team) in October before fully acquiring US concert promoter Made Event in November.
