Nice to start early 2017 with the good music from Becoming Phill and his new album Electrum. Becoming Phill is the only southern African electro/funk/boogie producer in the game right now. He won a Namibian Music Award a few years back for some hiphop records then went straight into this kind of sound, and here’s the album – Electrum.
It’s a mix of electro, funk & r&b that is doing very well on the dancefloors in Namibia right now. It features vocals from Namibian singers Shishani and Dantago, and guitar from Christian Polloni, who has worked with Papa Wemba and Youssou N’Dour. Phill lives in Namibia and this record is happening down there right now. A slice of current musical events you're not gonna find anywhere else.
