Dance Music Dominates Most Listened-To Acts This Festival Season
Dance music can’t be denied, especially not during festivals. The genre has birthed a series of festivals throughout the World, but has also infiltrated mainstream ones like Coachella, Lollapallooza, and Glastonbury, too.
Google Play Music crunched the numbers from all the festivals in the UK this summer and discovered that dance music was responsible for seven of the top 10 most played festival acts, with #1 going to an unexpected contender. Duke Dumont bested Jack Ü, Calvin Harris, The Chemical Brothers, Rudimental, Avicii, and Major Lazer; only Hozier, Sigma, and James Bay broke up the list.
Calvin Harris’s track “Pray To God” featuring HAIM took the top spot for most played track at a festival, and Duke Dumont’s “The Giver (Reprise)” followed by The Chemical Brothers’ “Go” rounded out the top three.
