Panasonic has unveiled a spectacular new vinyl turntable at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.
Someone Printed a Working Turntable
A New Zealand-based designer has stepped up and made a 3D-printed, hand-cranked turntable that actually works. Well, kind of actually works...
The designer, Oana Croitoru, designed the record player as part of the MakerBot Ghostly Vinyl Challenge, which challenged designers to create something unique for the music obsessed. This is appropriately timed as vinyl has recently made quite the comeback with sales the highest they’ve been since the 90s.
This merging of old and new technology doesn’t exactly result in a pristine audio experience, but perhaps once the technology improves you'll actually be able to print a self-referential turntable out of vinyl.
