Goldie Has Been Awarded An Mbe In The Queen’s New Year’s Honours List

In the 2016 New Year Honours list, drum 'n' bass producer Goldie has been awarded an MBE. The 50-year-old DJ, producer, founder of Metalheadz and D&B pioneer was given the honour for his services to music and young people.

The man is seen as instrumental within the genre of drum 'n' bass, and thoroughly deserves his prestigious award for work in and outside of the industry.

“Very very proud to announce that I have been awarded an MBE – Member of the Order of the British Empire. There are some amazing people on the list, happy to be in such great company. Thanks for all the kind words. It’s been a long journey and the beginning of a new one,” he said.

“Thank you to my unsung heroes / heroines Kemi Storm, Grooverider, Fabio, Doc Scott, Reinforced, Frost, Headz family and most of all my family.”

Flower Power: EDC London powers through European festival debut

Just a week shy of Wireless Festival, Insomniac took to the Olympic Park with a star-studded line-up and the flamboyant productions to see if Electronic Daisy Carnival held as much power over British dance music fans as it has its North American followers. While Insomniac did a wonderful job of transposing their brand overseas, subtle differences came to play during the festival’s international debut.
