Kate Middleton and Prince William hit the decks during a visit to Northern Sound System near Adelaide during their tour of Australia. After walking around the community center and chatting with spectators, the royal duo took turns scratching with DJ Shane Peterer.

But once a prince and duchess get involved, it becomes a whole different story. No, Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton aren’t exactly threatening to take up the fine art of mixing records, but they did receive a (very) quick lesson in scratching. There’s not much more to it than that, aside from their somewhat clumsy royal hands fiddling with the platter as a DJ assists them in scratching through a rudimentary hip-hop beat.
