This year, roughly 30,000 Burners will descend on Black Rock City for the most transformative week of their lives. But if you don’t already have a ticket to Burning Man 2016, odds are you won’t be one of them.
Your Guide To Surviving Burning Man
This year’s edition of Burning Man is creeping up fast, with Black Rock City’s annual celebration of all things weird and wonderful kicking off on August 30.
If you’re making the pilgrimage in 2015, now’s the time to start preparing – and to help you out, the team behind the world’s most coveted festival have released this year’s Survival Guide.
Take heed: “This guide is mandatory reading for all Burning Man participants”, organisers advise. It covers everything from prohibited items to port-a-loos, what to do in a dust storm, how much water to bring and the frequency for Burning Man’s Information Radio station. With temperatures on the playa routinely hitting 40ºC, adequate preparation is vital.
“Burning Man takes place in Nevada’s beautiful, remote, inhospitable Black Rock Desert, in a temporary metropolis called Black Rock City. The desert is governed by physical laws that cannot be ignored,” the festival warns. “You are responsible for your own survival, safety, comfort, and well-being, and for ensuring you Leave No Trace.”
