Two people have died and five left in critical condition after a driver fleeing police crashed into crowds at the South By South West (SXSW) music festival in Texas last night.
Suspect in Fatal SXSW Incident Has Been Named and Charged
The suspect in the fatal incident that occurred at South by South West (SXSW) festival in the early hours of March 13 has been named.
According to local reports, Rashad Charjuan Owens, 21, who is from Kileen, Texas, has also said to have been charged with two counts of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault while the two fatalities of the hit and run have also been named.
Those killed in the incident have been named as MassiveMusic music agency employee Steven Craenmehr, 35, from Amsterdam and a local woman called Jamie Ranae West, 27.
Mohawk, the venue near where the collision occurred, has worked with SXSW and the city of Austin to set up the SXSW Cares Fund to support the victims of the incident. 23 people in total were injured with five of those said to be in critical condition.
