With its infamous summer clubbing season now well underway, you would struggle to find a European destination more hotly discussed among clubbers than Ibiza.
Space Ibiza Celebrates 25 Epic Years With A Revealing Documentary
With a home-base at the center of electronic music, nightclub Space Ibiza has seen and heard it all since its grand opening in 1989. For its 25th anniversary, the club is sharing its wealth of White Isle memories with the world.
Space has teamed up with DJ Mag to put together a short documentary, This is Space Ibiza: 25 Years of Perfection. The film is a celebration of the club that’s earned DJMag’s “Best Club in the World” title multiple times; it’s also launched the careers of storied heroes like Steve Lawler, Sasha and the inimitable Carl Cox, who still holds down his dynamic Ibiza residency at Space today. “I don’t know if I found Space, or if Space found me,” Cox says to the camera.
Watch the video below, where in between the old party footage and outrageous costumes, you’ll see artists like Nic Fanciulli, Basement Jaxx and Cox share their own glowing testimonials of the club in which they – and most other DJs – camped out during their younger clubbing years.
The documentary also goes in-depth on the club’s various attributes, from its famous Funktion 1 sound-system, to the Terrace, to its opening and closing parties.
In October, Space will hold its annual summer-season closing fiesta, and the line-up is nothing less than stacked. Faithful regulars Cox and Fanciulli will be in attendance, along with Deep Dish, Disclosure, John Talabot, Agoria, Visionquest, Josh Wink and more.
