Daft Punk Unmasked In Intricate Wooden Sculptures
An unmasked Daft Punk have been depicted in sculpture form as part of a new series by Parisian artist Xavier Veilhan.
The series was put together as part of Veilhan’s Music exhibition at set to run at Galerie Perottin in New York. Speaking to The Creators Project, Veilhan revealed it was Daft Punk’s decision to be depicted without masks on. Previously, many music journalists have already been tried in the past to capture the mysterious duo without masks.
“The funny thing is I didn’t even ask them. It was a very logical response to my proposal: I proposed to introduce them as producers, not as musicians, and so after talking to them, we decided that they should appear with their civilian names,” he said.
“They proposed to me: ‘Okay, we should make the sculpture the non-existing image of us. So if somebody wants to see how we are like in real [life] they’ll have to look at the sculpture.'”
Veilhan’s exhibition, entitled Music, opens Thursday at New York’s Galerie Perrotin and runs until April 11.
