EDC Recap Day 2

EDC Recap Day 2

Day 2 came and went as the halfway mark for the three day marathon that is the Electric Daisy Carnival and many of us (read: me) were already feeling the effects of partying. Legs and feet were sore, blisters had begun to emerge, and the circles underneath everyones’ eyes were getting just a little bit darker, but it was all well worth it. We’re here to recap all of the second day’s dancing glory for you.

First and foremost, we immediately noticed some changes at the main stage. The night before, Kinetic Field seemed to have a different lighting priority. This night, the focus was more on contrasting dark spaces and the impressive light display rather than the storybook mushrooms and day glow daisies. Secondly, the crowd was more energetic than Friday night, probably due to travel tiredness. These few tweaks made Saturday even more fantastic and with the Swedish/Dutch coalition taking the majority of the main stage, it was guaranteed to be an uplifting night.

With the atmosphere ripe to explode, Tritonal put on a masterclass in main stage performances. I’ll admit, I had not known too much about Tritonal besides the fact that they’re awesome people, but I was completely amazed by their pace and competence. Afterwards, I took the opportunity to watch Swedish stars Rebecca & Fiona, who kept the crowd entertained and dancing the way they should. Mat Zo was equally impressive following the girls up with tempo changing ear candy. I was thoroughly impressed with how the second day picked up the pace that was set by the first.

I’d like to only describe the highlights that I saw at the festival, but there were simply too many – Benny Benassi, Wolfgang Gartner, Major Lazer, and Craig Williams – and those were just the people we had a chance to see. Overall, it was phenomenal night and one we didn’t think could be surpassed. Just like any amazing festival, every day/night got better, building on the energy of the night before. We promised ourselves we wouldn’t, but we couldn’t help but have fun until the sun came up. At this point, we were all 2/3 of the way through and couldn’t wait to go out with a bang on Day 3.
