Marcel Woods Says Goodbye

Marcel Woods

Successful DJ Marcel Woods from Eindhoven has announced his last DJ gig after a long and fruitful international DJ career. By taking this step he is the first of the ‘golden generation’ Dutch DJ’s who announces the end of his DJ career.

Pioneer Marcel Woods can look back at a very successful career. He is well known for his Trance Energy-anthem in 2006 and the remix for the Sensation anthem. In 2011 he also collaborated with Tiesto for the track ‘Don’t Ditch’. Through the years Woods released 13 albums and more than 30 singles. Putting together the Essential Mix for BBC1 radio, starting up his own record label Musical Madness and high rankings in the DJ Mag Top 100 are some of the many highlights of his career.

Woods, who started DJ’ing in 1988, was an extremely popular DJ who played loads of main stages at events such as Mysteryland, Sensation, Trance Energy and MayDay, to name a few. Besides that, Woods is the man behind many mix compilations and high scoring single releases in the Dance charts.

With two young children and being the owner of a successful artist agency it is hard to maintain an international career. By running artist agency 2-Dutch he takes care of artists like Showtek, Jordy Dazz, Justin Prime and TV Noise. The careers of these guys are growing expeditious. Woods’ decision to quit DJ’ing will automatically mean that there won’t be any new productions or releases under his name.

In the meantime Marcel is working on a “classics minded” concept ‘Bring Back The Music’ which will lead to some rare gigs at special occasions. ‘Bring Back The Music’ will keep him close by what he loves most; his passion for music, without having to travel all around the world for gigs all the time.

On his Facebook's page Marcel Woods wrote: "There is a time for everything, and this is the time to announce that I’m retiring from DJ’ing and producing. Despite the love I always felt and still feel for my profession, I’m hanging up my headphones. "
