Swiss EDM parade erupts in violence.
During Sunday’s third annual “Tanz Dich Frei 2013” (Dance Yourself Free) EDM parade in the Swiss capital of Bern, the celebration came to a screeching halt when riots and violence broke out.
According to reports, over 10,000 people took part in the parade which involved the masses touring the city, blasting dance music, and all out partying. Things took a turn for the worse late into the night when the festivities reached the cities parliament building, thats when violence erupted and rioters attempted to break into the building. Over 20 participants and security personnel were injured and more than 60 people were arrested. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
An investigation is currently underway as to who was behind the unauthorized event, one unnamed individual is being looked into. Bern City Representative, Reto Nause wants authorities to go after Facebook, since the event was planned via a event page on the social media site. He believes the site is responsible for encouraging the event and should release the names of who was behind the event page. Local media has stated that the social media giant could (though unlikely) be charged in connection to the violence, as it was used as an medium for mobilization.
